arrests

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, Detective Ian Mallory of The University of Iowa Police Department began calling people from the October 16, 2023 protest indicating that he had “some paperwork”.

Detective Mallory told the five people he called that there were warrants out for their arrests and they were to report to either The University of Iowa Police Department or to the Johnson County Jail to turn themselves in.

A sixth person lives out of state and Detective Mallory did not call her to inform her of her charges. She turned herself in at the Johnson County Jail because of the police reports that indicate charges against her.

A seventh person was charged on December 12, almost two months after the October 16 protest.

Five of the seven signed waivers of initial appearance and were released shortly after booking.

One of the seven was not offered a waiver and was detained at the Johnson County Jail in Cell Block E from 3:45 until 9:20 AM on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
